Susan Fortunato has worked for a major United States government laboratory for over twenty years as a Forensic Document Examiner, serving most recently in a supervisory capacity. Her expertise has been called upon for a wide range of forensic document examinations and has given expert testimony for hundreds of cases. Susan is a frequent lecturer who has also produced numerous publications on forensic document analysis.
Susan is an expert in printing, processes, ink analysis, paper and plastic enabling her to determine manufacturing sources in cases where that discovery is crucial. She is an active member of a number of forensic industry organizations and affiliations.

A Forensic Document Examiner FDE is a forensic scientist who scientifically studies various physical details and elements of documents in order to identify their source or to determine their authenticity or integrity. Document examiners help lawyers by examining and offering written opinions on a variety of disputed document problems. Lawyers benefit also from an FDE's specialized knowledge of literature in the questioned document field. This knowledge will assist lawyers in preparing meaningful direct examination questions for their own expert witness and cross-examination questions for opposing experts.
